One day in 1984, when I was freelancing for the now-defunct Hallandale Digest, founder and publisher Peter Bluesten called me into his office. "I want you to write about this restaurant" he said, handing me some info about Padrino's, a small, family-owned Cuban restaurant I had never heard of, located in western Hallandale, near I-95. I have never been more excited about a writing assignment. I still remember my exact response. I said "You mean we've finally got a Cuban restaurant in Broward County?" Padrino's Restaurant has moved and grown since then. Twenty-five years later, they now have several successful locations in Broward: Hallandale Beach near the Intracoastal, on US 441 in western Boca, and on University Drive in Plantation. Following is the Padrino's article from the Hallandale Digest: |
